Brooklyn Classic Seven II

For this large pre-war apartment, LLA rearranged the floor plan so that public spaces—including living, dining and kitchen areas—are adjacent to the entry, while private spaces—bedrooms and bathrooms—are clustered in the rear. In the entry foyer, a sleek walnut built-in with open shelving for display encourages long views into the adjacent living and dining areas while maintaining the sense of arrival associated with a more traditional pre-war plan. Lighting selection and placement were critical in establishing distinct areas within the open plan layout and new finishes and moldings were introduced to complement the existing prewar detail. Master artisans installed large sections of plaster cove moldings and herringbone flooring to match the original.
